Treo 650 Bluetooth syncing with Mac OS X and Missing Sync

Finally broke down and got a Palm Treo 650 from Rogers yesterday. I swore I wasn’t going to upgrade another PDA until there was a PDA worth buying, or I was actually, finally, doing mobile development. Well, the boss decided that our new web application has to be mobile-enabled, so…

Of course, the first thing to do was to get Bluetooth sync working with my 12” Apple Powerbook with Mac OS X 10.4.4. This turned out to be surprisingly difficult. I am using Missing Sync, so I didn’t want to install the Palm Desktop software. I finally figured out the proper magic incantations by following the advice from the following two pages.

After all that, it worked like a charm.
